Visit to the "Museo Dell'Acqua", an innovative hydraulic engineering project in the center of Naples
The Water Museum is the fulcrum of the underground path of the Basilica of Pietrasanta.
This amazing hydraulic engineering project brings ancient Greco-Roman cisterns back to work.
This complex, located in the historic center of Naples, was built by the architect Cosimo Fanzago in the mid-17th century, on the remains of the Ancient Temple of the goddess Diana.
The Basilica della Pietrasanta, today LAPIS Museum, boasts a suggestive underground path, a "Submerged Decumanus".
Today the cisterns find water and streams, and have been enhanced by a lighting-technical system that emphasizes volumes and vaults thanks to lights and colors.
A significant step was taken by installing the first archaeological lift in the historic centre, capable of connecting the crypt environment with the subsoil in just 20 seconds, descending to a depth of 35 meters and 2000 years back in time.
