Located in the massif of the Alburni Mountains, the Pertosa-Auletta Caves are one of the geosites of the "Cilento" Geopark and have two characteristics not common to other caves: they are the only caves in Italy where it is possible to navigate an underground river, the Negro; moreover they are the only ones in Europe to preserve the remains of a pile-dwelling village from the 2nd millennium BC Thanks to expert guides, the visit to the caves equipped with well-defined and accessible paths, and illuminated by a modern system, turns into a pleasant adventure. The river offers an unusual boat trip, immersed in a magical silence, interrupted only by the roar of the downpours of the underground waterfall. The guided tour lasts an hour including the boat ride on the Negro river and the visit of evocative environments with creative names such as the Hall of Wonders, Belvedere, Great Hall, Throne Room, Union Room with the "kiss" between stalactites and stalagmite.
